Hey everyone,
I'm looking for some suggestions of exercises I can do. I've somehow pulled the muscle in my side so I can't twist much with out it hurting. Think it happened coughing as I've had a cough for a few weeks now. Anyway, I've been really good this year doing regular exercise which is really helping with the weight loss, and now I've had this happen I don;t want to make it worse, but also don't want to stop the exercising otherwise I'll get out of the habit and that will be it until next new years resolution
Anyway, can anyone give me some ideas on exercises, at home or gym or wherever that I can do that doesn't involve twisting the body and much effort on my abs, tried push ups and after a few it starts to pull on it as I guess my body is twisting slightly.
Thanks in advance!
Joe

Bit of a tricky one as it hard not to move your core like that...what about lots of walking or cycling might be good on a static bike as you'll be a in fixed position or maybe rowing machine?

Walking seems the best option so far. Problem is you don't really burn the calories the same....

After reading about on this forum I had a go at the body weight squats and doing them as intervals. These work as without the weight i'm not twisting and can keep my torso straight. Plus being intervals it gets the heart rate up unlike the walking so feel like doing a bit more!
What do you reckon to running, would this work or would i be twisting and putting strain on the pulled muscle?

I'd just give it a gentle try and if it feels like it's going to hurt you i'd stop and not risk it.

Hi, You can also try some other exercise of your own interest like swimming and running... It would also motivate you to be regular.. Thanks

I agree. If you do something you enjoy and find interesting you'll keep going back. Forcing yourself to do something you don't enjoy will just mean you quit it after a few sessions.

It doesn't have to be tough, you can eat plenty just the right kinds of foods and exercise doesn't have to take long. Fifteen mins a day with enough intensity would be beneficial. It's not just about keeping weight down either it's about being healthy too!

Yoga will help in losing weight as does any exercise. I reckon high intensity exercise is better for weight loss although there are different types of yoga. Yoga is great for conditioning, suppleness, strength and injury prevention and keeping you healthy. Also can be done at home and fitted in easily around busy schedules. I'd definately add a session or two a week.

I know a guy who does martial arts and combines it with yoga to help improve balance and suppleness. I think yoga is also good for the state of mind.
